What’s in a name?…

What’s in a name?  A name is very important.  It is what your parents thought of to fit you.  Some parents do a lot of research and put a great deal of thought in a name.  My children’s mother and I put a lot of thought in the name of our children.

Names are important from the beginning of creation.  The bible is full of tracing names and genealogy.  Our Lord is called by many names, so sovereign  that we are not to use it in vain as commanded in the the Ten Commandments.

People like to be called by their names. In business it is expected you memorize names upon first meeting. It is a sign of respect and interest.

So often we forget to address people by their name. Or we can easily forget their name. I want to invite you the next time you go to a restaurant or even through a drive through window, get your server’s name. And address them by their name. Make sure you leave a tip at a restaurant and tell them to have a great day.

Just a simple act of addressing someone by their name, whether it’s your server at a restaurant, your mail man, or a salesmen, will make the experience a little more personal, and it will make the other person feel that they are more than just someone serving you, or providing a service.

Try it today, make it a habit, and remember to smile because it’s contagious.

Blessings,

DW
