Faith…

What is faith? This is the definition from the bible:

“Now FAITH is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” Hebrews 11:1-3

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6

Do you have faith? If so in what and whom? Some people I have met and known share their faith in God and His word, while others say they hold faith in themselves, or in other deity existences.

I believe there is one true God. I believe in the Trinity. I have faith, although tested and shaken in the past, I still have faith. The word of God says that without faith it is impossible to please Him. If you believe in God, and you have faith in His word and in the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ then you please Him.

You also please Him through the fruits of the spirit and works of faith. Let me expound. The book of James has a great reference.

Lets begin with James 1:5; “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

and..

“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, an receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” James 1:21-22.

“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea a man may say, Thou hast faith: show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wiltt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” James 2:17-20

So if you believe in one true God, and you have faith, then works are a part of being filled with faith and being faithful to the one true God.

In the book of Hebrews; chapter 11 goes through a list of what I call the Hall of Faith of the works of many people. They demonstrated their faith through their works and perseverance. So to must we demonstrate our faith through our works, talents and abilities. Such things as assembling together in church in learning, praise and worship. Studying to show thyself approved unto God as it is said in the book of  Timothy.  Such as praying and helping one another. Such as abiding by the teachings of the word and Jesus Christ.

Being a Christian is not easy. I know it isn’t. The bible never promised it would be easy. Life is good, however life is also hard and Satan loves to see Christians torn down and destroyed. Don’t give satan that opportunity as much as you can be strong in your faith.

I am far from being perfect and I have failed many times. However I am forgiven and I try to be a better Christian and stronger in my faith. It’s not easy. The world is filled with tools to have yourselves to be your own God or some false God, or follow some false profit. Resist the devil, and he will flee as the bible tells us. Launch your life with purpose, navigate with the principles from God, and explore with passion.

Share with me your own experience with faith. Has it been tested? Has it been shaken or diminished at some point? Has it grown and is stronger now than it has ever been?

I look forward to your stories and testimonials.

Blessings,

DW
